Broadway on the High Seas 8 welcomes two-time Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell to its roster of acclaimed performers. The eighth cruise in Playbill’s series of exotic and unparalleled trips, this adventure is shaping up to be the experience of a lifetime.
In February 2017, travelers board the newly renovated luxury liner Silverseas’ Silver Wind for a Caribbean adventure, including stops in St. Maarten, St. Kitts, St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, and more.
Mitchell, who was most recently seen on Broadway in the Tony-winning musical Shuffle Along, or the Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, brings his booming baritone to our lineup of solo shows.
He joins four-time Tony nominee Judy Kuhn, Tony nominee Howard McGillin, Tony nominee Melissa Errico, Tony nominee Tony Yazbeck, Tony nominee Louise Pitre, Drama Desk nominee Karen Mason, Tony winner Alice Ripley, Emmy winner Ernie Sabella, onboard MC and Drama Desk nominee Bryan Batt, Chatterbox host Seth Rudetsky, and Grammy-winning music director John McDaniel.
Once named “the last leading man” by The New York Times, audiences know Mitchell from Broadway’s Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, his iconic Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha, the title role in King Hedley II, his Tony-winning turn in Kiss Me, Kate, his defining portrayal of Coalhouse Walker Jr. in Ragtime, his performance opposite Chita Rivera in Kiss of the Spider Woman, taking over for Gregory Hines in Jelly’s Last Jam, as well as roles in Ok, Kay!, Mail, and Oliver!
For a taste of what may be expected on board, Mitchell also has two solo albums: Brian Stokes Mitchell and Simply Broadway. As chairman of the board of The Actors Fund—and a 2016 inductee to the Theatre Hall of Fame—Mitchell, and his fellow stars, make Broadway on the High Seas 8 a not-to-be-missed adventure.
