Classic Arts Features Bridgewater, Reeves, Lovano and More Perform Jazz For Obama at the 92nd Street Y on Oct. 1 Jazz For Obama, billed as a "Jazz Concert for America's Future" will be held at Manhattan's 92nd Street Y on Oct. 1. The 7:30 PM performance will feature such jazz luminaries as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dianne Reeves, Joe Lovano and Roy Haynes.


Press notes describe the fundraiser as such:

"A roster of superlative New York City jazz artists will unite for one night only to present Jazz For Obama, a concert event to benefit Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. Featured performers include singer/actress Dee Dee Bridgewater, jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves, saxophonist Joe Lovano, drummer Roy Haynes, pianist Brad Mehldau, trumpeter Roy Hargrove, bassist Christian McBride, guitarist Stanley Jordan, vocalist Kurt Elling, pianist Hank Jones, The Charlie Hunter/Doug Wamble Duo, singer/songwriter Bilal with pianist Robert Glasper, vibraphonist Stefon Harris, vocalist Roberta Gambarini and special guests."

The 92nd Street Y's Kaufmann Concert Hall is located at Lexington Avenue at East 92nd Street.

Tickets are $100 and available now at www.jazzforobama.com. Student and senior tickets are available for $50. VIP tickets are $250 and include reserved seating and a post-concert reception.

The concert is produced by Jazz for America's Future. All proceeds benefit the Obama For America Presidential Campaign.

A second New York benefit will be held Oct. 7 at S.O.B.'s on 204 Varick Street at West Houston.

Dubbed S.O.B.'s Presents A Night Of Jazz For Obama this latter concert will boast the talents of progressive soul singer Maiysha, R&B legend Alyson Williams, Latin jazz star Claudia Acuna, Afro-latin jazz leader Arturo O'farrill, Jazz legend Geri Allen and additional special guests.
