News Bright Lights Composer Illuminates Rooms, a New Musical in NYMF, Sept. 13-23 Rooms, a "rock romance" co-written by Paul Scott Goodman, who musicalized Bright Lights Big City, will play in the 2005 New York Musical Theatre Festival from Sept. 13-23 at the 45th Street Theatre.

Scotsman Goodman penned music and lyrics for the new two-actor project and co-wrote the book with Miriam Gordon.

Scott Schwartz (The Foreigner, Bat Boy, Golda's Balcony) directs the production, which stars Jeremy Kushnier (Footloose) and Natascia Diaz (Bright Lights Big City). "Rooms centers on songwriting partners Monica Miller and Ian Wallace, who meet in Glasgow, Scotland in 1977," according to production notes. "Monica is a middle-class Jewish girl interested in the bright lights of Broadway while Ian is a working-class rock-and-roll Catholic boy. Nevertheless, opposites attract and the two form an instant bond. Their music takes them from Glasgow to London to New York. Though Monica longs to see every room in the world, Ian is happy with four walls, a window, his music and a scotch. This rock romance explores their musical journey around the world and through time."
