"MTI is thrilled to work with Universal Pictures Stage Productions and Beacon Communications to showcase the excitement of Bring It On: The Musical on amateur and professional stages across the world," MTI president Drew Cohen said in a statement. "Community theatres and high schools in particular will embrace the show's themes of 'fitting in' and personal growth through teamwork. It's also a great opportunity for two schools to collaborate on a joint production. The subject matter is relevant for all actors, students and audience members and we look forward to making the show available for licensing in the near future."
The musical began Broadway previews July 12 at the St. James Theatre and officially opened Aug. 1. It will continue through Dec. 30. Details of a 2013-14 national tour will be announced at a later date.
The current Broadway engagement is the culmination of the national tour of Bring It On, which launched in fall 2011 in Los Angeles.
Jeff Whitty, the Tony-winning book writer of Avenue Q, authored the original book for the musical, which is anchored in the world of competitive high school cheerleading. The dramatic setting is based on the popular film franchise. Read about his unique take on the production here.
Bring It On has music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights), music by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning composer Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) and lyrics by Kitt's High Fidelity collaborator Amanda Green. All three collaborated on the score for the tuner. Tony-winning In the Heights choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler directs and choreographs the musical, which has musical supervision by Tony Award winner Alex Lacamoire.

The stage production is produced by Universal Pictures Stage Productions/Glenn Ross, Beacon Communications/Armyan Bernstein and Charlie Lyons, and Kristin Caskey and Mike Isaacson. Beacon and Universal also produced the "Bring It On" films.
