A mainstay of Australian theatre throughout the 1960's and 70's was the presence of beloved performers from British sitcoms. With the rise of a home-grown star system, this trend declined, but the era returns with a forthcoming Queensland production of Bedroom Farce.
Starring in Alan Ayckbourn's comedy will be Geoffrey Hughes and Judy Cornwall, better known as Onslow and Daisy from "Keeping Up Appearances," the recent British sitcom which brought Tony-winning actress Patricia Routledge to the hearts of Australian audiences.
Twelfth Night Theatre Productions have carved a niche by opening shows in Brisbane and then undertaking extensive regional tours, such as last year's Rebecca featuring another British 'import' in Christopher Timothy from BBC's "All Creatures Great and Small".
Bedroom Farce directed by Peter Williams opens at Twelfth Night Theatre Brisbane on May 25. Bookings (61-7)32525122.
