Alan Mingo Jr. takes over the role of Lola in the Tony Award-winning Harvey Fierstein-Cyndi Lauper musical Kinky Boots at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre beginning March 29.

Mingo, who comes to Broadway from the Toronto production of Kinky Boots, succeeds Emmy Award winner Wayne Brady in the role. Brady played his final performance March 27.

Mingo’s Broadway credits include Sebastian in Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Tom Collins in Rent.

Kinky Boots features a book by multiple Tony winner Harvey Fierstein and a Tony-winning score by rock icon Cyndi Lauper. The production is directed and choreographed by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell.

Inspired by true events, Kinky Boots, according to press notes, "takes you from a gentlemen's shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father's expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory's future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos."
