Houston's Theatre Under the Stars Underground has announced casting for its final show of the season, the musical comedy First Date. Broadway actor A.J. Shively (La Cage aux Folles) will play the lead role of Aaron for the June 11-21 production.

First Date, with a book by Austin Winsberg and music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, played Broadway's Longacre Theatre in 2013. The story follows the blind date set up between tightly wound Aaron and cool girl Casey. A quick drink turns into a hilarious evening of dinner, exes, fake emergencies and much more. The TUTS Underground cast will also feature Jessica Janes in the role of Casey, Adam Gibbs, Dylan Godwin, Mark Ivy, Kathryn Porterfield and Brooke Wilson.

The creative team includes director Marley Wisnoski, assistant director Nathan Wilson, choreographer Dana Lewis, musical director and conductor Jack Beetle, scenic designer Ryan McGettigan, sound designer Andrew Harper, lighting designer Christina R. Giannelli and costume designer Colleen Grady.

Tickets can be purchased online by visiting TUTSunderground or by calling (713) 558-TUTS.
