News Broadway Actors Set for Industry Readings of New Musical Tiananmen Stafford Arima will direct.

Industry readings of the new musical Tiananmen will be presented in Manhattan April 27–28.

Stafford Arima (Allegiance, Altar Boyz) will direct the rock musical, which was written by Scott Elmegreen and Drew Fornarola. The readings will feature musical direction by Rodney Bush.

The cast will be headed by Zachary Noah Piser (Wicked), Elena Wang (Allegiance), and Karl Josef Co (Pacific Overtures) with Julia Abueva, Grace Choi, Marcus Choi, Katie Lee Hill, Kendyl Ito, Austin Ku, Kenneth Lee, and Toren Nakamura.

Tiananmen, according to press notes, “follows an unlikely love story between two college students set against the dramatic backdrop of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests in Beijing.”
