Rocky threw its last punch this past week, closing Aug. 17. For its final eight performances, it took in $870,165, roughly $75,000 more than the previous week. Still, it played to only 85% capacity, and collected just 69% of its potential box office. Average ticket price was $84.03. Its closing put the number of shows on Broadway at 25. Rocky did not have the lowest capacity last week, however. Not by a long shot, actually. Lower still were Bullets Over Broadway, Cinderella, If/Then, Motown, Once and Rock of Ages.

Perhaps owing to the time of year, when many people are away on August holiday, most shows dipped a bit at the box office this week. Matilda the Musical was down $69,000, Kinky Boots slid $73,000, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill declined $60,000, The Lion King descended $87,000 and Aladdin came up $105,000 less than it had last week.

Though Wicked put in nine performances this week, one more than last week, the box office total was nonetheless $33,000 less. (The show played at 94% capacity.) The Book of Mormon did the same sort of overtime, but its nine shows brought in $112,000 more than last week's eight.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch continued to not only play at capacity, but rake in amazing overages at the box office during its final week with Tony winner Neil Patrick Harris starring in the title role. This week, it garnered a full 137% of its possible box office. No other show came close to that performance. Box office was up more than $50,000 over last week, and average ticket price was $158.83. Overall box office numbers stood at $25,926,516. That was just about half a million less than last year. But it was $2.5 million more than last year at this time, where there were just 24 shows on the Great White Way. Attendance was down overall 4,500 from last week. The season to date numbers sat at $303,656,478, more than $40 million more than last year at this time. Playing weeks are 341, compared to last year's 274.
