News Broadway Green Alliance Holding Recycling Drive for Theatre Industry and Fans The Broadway Green Alliance (BGS) will sponsor a combined textile and E-waste recycling drive for theatre industry members and fans Oct. 21 11 AM-2 PM in Duffy Square. The event is open to all shows, theatre, industry members and fans.

According to a release, "Wearable Collections, a clothing recycling company, will repurpose or recycle 96% of all textile donations. Accepted items include: all used, clean, and dry clothing, including paired shoes, handbags, belts, hats, and household and backstage items such as curtains, linens, and towels. Carpeting, pillows, rugs, fabric scraps, comforters, and bath mats are not accepted."

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Broadway Green Alliance in an effort to make Broadway greener.

The Broadway Green Alliance also maintains a textile drop-off bin in the BGA office and at the Actors Federal Credit Union at Actors’ Equity Association.

The BGA is hiring the e-Steward certified company ERI to provide responsible, domestic recycling of all items of E-waste. Accepted donations this year include laptops, desktops, monitors, televisions and remotes, computer cables, mice, keyboards, gaming consoles, telecom equipment, small electronic appliances (coffee makers, toasters), cellphones and accessories. They cannot accept light bulbs, any type of battery, large appliances, air conditioners or any dangerous items.

In an effort to help off-set the cost of E-Waste recycling, the BGS will ask for a donation from anyone dropping off more than one box of E-Waste.
