News "Broadway in Bryant Park" Reschedules Hairspray, Vanities, Godspell Performances The scheduled July 24 performance of "Broadway in Bryant Park" will now hit the midtown greenery's stage Aug. 15.

According to an annoncement: "Broadway in Bryant Park [July 24] has been postponed due to the pending inclement weather. We are rescheduling tomorrow's performance for the rain date of August 15th."

Hairspray's Ashley Parker Angel, Vanities' Lauren Kennedy, Godspell's Gavin Creel and Diana DeGarmo and more were scheduled to perform.

Radio station 106.7 Lite FM presents the midday summer series, which highlights current and upcoming musicals on and Off-Broadway. The performances, which launched July 10 at the midtown park, continue Thursdays (12:30 PM-1:30 PM) on The Lawn.

Also slated to perform July 24 were The Lion King's Dashaun Young and Sophia N. Stephens; Vanities' Lauren Kennedy; Hairspray's Ashley Parker Angel, Marissa Perry and Tevin Campbell; and Godspell's cast including Gavin Creel and Diana DeGarmo as well as Uzu Adoba, Sara Chase, Celise Henderson, Joshua Henry, David Josefsberg, Telly Leung, Maria Thayer, Daniel Torres, Andrew Arrington, Morgan James, Kyle Post and Dana Stengold.

The seventh annual series line-up (subject to change) follows:

  • July 31 - The Little Mermaid, Altar Boyz, Cirque Dreams: Jungle Fantasy, Jump and A Tale of Two Cities
  • Aug. 7 - Spring Awakening, Gypsy, Xanadu, Mary Poppins and Wicked
  • Aug. 14 - Grease, Young Frankenstein, Rent, Legally Blonde and 13
  • Aug. 15 - The Lion King, Vanities, Hairspray, Forbidden Broadway and Godspell Bryant Park is located just behind the New York Public Library on Sixth Avenue between 40th and 42nd Streets. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
