News Broadway in Chicago Season Includes The Last Ship, Ghost, Heartbeat of Home, Motown, New Phantom Tour and More The Broadway in Chicago 2014 season will include the North American premiere of Heartbeat of Home, a new dance production from the creators of Riverdance; tours of Motown The Musical and Peter and the Starcatcher; and the world premiere of the new Sting musical The Last Ship.

The season opens with Ghost The Musical, running Jan. 7-19, 2014, at the Oriental Theatre. Based on the Academy Award-winning film written by Bruce Joel Rubin, the high-tech production features an original pop score by Grammy Award winners Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard.

Heartbeat of Home, created by Riverdance director John McColgan and producer Moya Doherty, promises "dynamic, vibrant components of traditional Irish, Latin and Afro-Cuban music and dance." It features narrative and lyrics by Joseph O’Connor and composition by Brian Byrne. It runs March 4-16, 2014, at the Oriental Theatre.

The national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, starring Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young, will be staged March 18-30, 2014, at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, the musical vaudeville takes audiences through a biblical retelling of the story of Joseph.

The Tony-winning play Peter and the Starcatcher, based on Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson's imaginative prequel to Peter Pan, will run April 2-13, 2014, at the Bank of America Theatre. It has a book by Rick Elice and is directed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers.

The national tour of Motown The Musical will launch at Chicago's Oriental Theatre April 22-July 13, 2014. The new Broadway musical tells the story of music mogul Berry Gordy and the artists whose careers he shaped, including Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye. Gordy authored the book to the hit-filled jukebox musical that is staged by Charles Randolph-Wright. The new national tour of The Wizard of Oz, including additional songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, will run April 30-May 11, 2014, at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. Based on the MGM film, the new production stars Danielle Wade, selected from the television show "Over the Rainbow," as Dorothy.

The pre-Broadway world premiere of Sting's The Last Ship, featuring a book by John Logan and Brian Yorkey, will run June 10-July 13, 2014, at the Bank of America Theatre. A Broadway run will follow in the fall. Joe Mantello will helm the production inspired by Sting's own childhood experiences.

Additional productions include Once Upon a Dream Starring the Rascals (Nov. 5-10, 2013), the new tour of The Phantom of the Opera (Jan. 9-March 2, 2014), Chicago (Feb. 25-March 2, 2014), Rock of Ages (March 11-16, 2014), Buyer & Cellar starring Michael Urie (beginning April 29, 2014) and Mamma Mia! (May 13-18, 2014).
