News Broadway League Announces National Education Grant Recipients The Broadway League has announced the recipients of its 15th annual National Education Grants, which "support innovative programs that enable students from coast to coast to experience touring Broadway as a form of artistic expression and as an educational tool."

The Grants award $5,000 to ten presenters of touring Broadway shows around the country in order to develop or support educational programs associated with touring productions. The theatres selected for the grants include The Fox Theatre (Atlanta, GA); Wharton Center for the Performing Arts (East Lansing, MI); Peace Center Foundation (Greeneville, SC); Tennessee Performing Arts Center (Nashville, TN); Kimmel Center, Inc. (Philadelphia, PA); California Musical Theatre (Sacramento, CA); Proctors (Arts Center and Theatre of Schenectady, Inc.) (Schenectady, NY); 5th Avenue Theatre (Seattle, WA); Straz Center for the Performing Arts (Tampa, FL); and Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts (West Palm Beach, FL).

The touring Broadway productions that will be the focus of the various educational programs include 9 to 5, Dreamgirls, In the Heights, Mary Poppins, Next to Normal, Shrek the Musical, The Lion King and West Side Story. The programs will involve students from elementary to high school level.
