News Broadway Playhouse Concerts To Spotlight Work of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber and More The fifth season of the Broadway Playhouse concert series, which introduces the world of musical theatre to children ages 4-11, will kick off Jan. 9, 2011, with a morning devoted to the work of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.

The season will continue with celebrations of the work of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevard) on Feb. 13 and Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt (The Fantasticks, 110 in the Shade) on March 6. Show time for each event is 11 AM. Directed by Sean Hartley, the cast includes Jason Robinson, Kathryn Markey, Steve Pacek and Christina Bianco along with director Hartley, who will host.

The concerts, according to press notes, "introduce children to classic musicals through captivating medleys, rousing sing-alongs, games in which audience members participate and mini-musicals telling the story of some of Broadway’s most enduring productions."
