The Werner-Gold-Miller and Warner Bros. Television production was written by Michael Leeson, who executive produces the pilot with Tom Werner, Eric Gold, Jimmy Miller and Mike Clements. "Twenty Good Years" casts the two stage and screen stars as an odd couple of men in their 50's who suddenly decide to live out each day the rest of their lives to the fullest, in spite of what anyone else thinks.

Lithgow — recently of Broadway's musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels — is known for his turns on television ("3rd Rock from the Sun," "Don Quixote," "Harry and the Hendersons"), in film ("The World According to Garp," "Footloose," "Shrek") and on stage (The Retreat From Moscow, M. Butterfly, Beyond Therapy). He has won Tony Awards for his performances in The Changing Room and Sweet Smell of Success. He is also the author of a number of children's books.

Tambor — who appeared in the Tony Award-winning revival of David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross — has previously been on Broadway in Sly Fox and Off-Broadway in Measure For Measure. Known for his TV portrayals of George Bluth, Sr. on "Arrested Development" and Hank Kingsley on "The Larry Sanders Show," he also appeared in such films as "And Justice For All," "Hellboy," "There’s Something About Mary," "Pollack" and "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
