Self-described as the largest privately funded agency in the Americas helping homeless children, Covenant House is presenting A Night of Broadway Stars with producer Jim Kierstead (Waitress) and director Jeff Calhoun (Newsies). The cast is scheduled to include Adam Jacobs (Aladdin), six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald (Shuffle Along), Billy Porter (Shuffle Along), Capathia Jenkins and Jeremy Jordan (Newsies), Laura Osnes (The Bandstand), Stephanie J. Block (Falsettos) and Rory O’Malley (Hamilton), with Seth Rudetsky (Disaster!) serving as emcee.
“This is going to be a night our kids at Covenant House and those in attendance will never, ever forget,” said Covenant House president Kevin Ryan. “Jeff Calhoun is an amazing champion for our kids, and the Broadway community is joining together to not only raise funds and awareness, but to raise the spirits of our kids. This night, this effort, will be oxygen for them… their spirits will soar and they will be changed by the love created on June 6.”
Th event will also feature inspiring moments with the young people at Covenant House. Covenant House will also honor Chris and Kimberly Clarke of Pure Growth for their service to homeless youth. Composer-lyricist Neil Berg and his wife, actress Rita Harvey, will be presented with the Beacon of Hope Award for their years of dedication in bringing A Night of Broadway Stars to stages across the country in support of Covenant House.
