This year’s workshops include such topics as directing, conceptualizing and planning productions, teaching methodology, a guide to careers in the theatre, the National Standards for Arts Education as well as discussions with writers from the musical theatre. Past instructors have included such Broadway names as Stephen Schwartz, Andrew Lippa Brad Oscar, Sam Harris, Michael Mayer and David Auburn. The three-day program also features tickets to Hairspray and Gypsy, which include a post-show talk-back with the casts of the productions. The cost for the workshop, theatre tickets and a “round table” dinner at Planet Hollywood is $499.
