Actresses Kate Shindle and Shayna Steele will run the New York City Marathon this November in support of marriage equality. The pair will lead a team running for Broadway Impact, and raise money in support of the equal rights advocacy group.

Steele has appeared on Broadway in Rent, Hairspray and Jesus Christ Superstar. Shindle’s Broadway credits include Legally Blonde, Cabaret and Jekyll and Hyde.  She was crowned Miss America in 1998.

Nonprofit organization Broadway Impact, co-founded by actor Gavin Creel (Hair, Thoroughly Modern Millie), is “a community of actors, directors, stage managers, fans, producers — pretty much anyone who has ever seen, been in or worked on a Broadway show — united by the simple belief that anyone who wants to should be able to get married,” according to its website.

The deadline to join the team is March 15, and the marathon will take place Nov. 7. Visit www.broadwayimpact.com for more information.
