Actor Alexandra Silber has been with Fiddler on the Roof a long time. Having played the role of Hodel in the West End production of the Joseph Stein-Jerry Bock-Sheldon Harnick classic, she stepped into the shoes of Tevye the Milkman’s eldest daughter, Tzeitl for Broadway’s most recent revival, which opened in December of 2015.
But the story of Tevye’s daughters continues in Silber’s new book, After Anatevka. The novel hit shelves July 4. Inspired by Fiddler on the Roof, the story follows Hodel to Siberia—in her world post-“Far From the Home I Love.” The book examines the lives of Hodel and Perchik as they strive to make a better world from the inside of a Siberian work camp.
Now on her After Anatevka book tour, Silber will present and host a discussion about her first novel and sign copies at the Drama Book Shop. The event is free and open to the public.
Chapters of Silber’s book were musicalized earlier this year as part of Symphony Space’s Project Broadway.
As an actor, Silber made her Broadway debut in 2001’s Master Class and has been seen onstage in Carousel, Kiss Me Kate, Murder on the Orient Express and more. She is featured as Maria on the Grammy-nominated recording of the symphonic version of West Side Story.
