As of Aug. 21, The ALS Association has received $41.8 million in donations compared to $2.1 million during the same time period last year (July 29-Aug. 21), and awareness has been raised by the viral Ice Bucket Challenge — asking individuals to pour ice water over themselves and/or donate to the cause.
