Broadway's leading ladies Laura Linney, Donna Murphy and Julie White are featured in the film "The Nanny Diaries" which opens in theatres Aug. 24.

The Weinstein Company produce the film adaptation of Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin's popular 2002 satiric novel. Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini co-direct their screenplay.

Scarlett Johansson stars in the film which "tells the story of the emotional and often humorous journey of Annie Braddock (Johansson), a young woman from a working class neighborhood in New Jersey, struggling to understand her place in the world," according to the producers. "Choosing to duck out of real life, Annie accepts the position as a nanny for a wealthy family, referred to as simply 'the X's.'"

Linney (The Crucible, Sight Unseen) stars as Mrs. X opposite Paul Giamatti (as her husband). Chris Evans, Alicia Keys and Nicholas Reese Art are also featured in the film.

Fellow stage veterans (and Tony Award winners) Murphy (LoveMusik, Passion, Wonderful Town) and White (The Little Dog Laughed, The Heidi Chronicles, Bad Dates) are also joined in the cast by Cady Huffman (The Producers), James Urbaniak (Thom Pain (based on nothing)), Nathan Corddry (Villa America), Isabel Keating (The Boy From Oz) and Kaitlin Hopkins (Bat Boy, Bare).
