The much-in-the-news television special — saluting memorable Tony Award ceremony performances — premiered on PBS stations around the country in August. The video and DVD of "Broadway's Lost Treasures" will feature several bonus tracks not seen on the television broadcast.
Hosted by Angela Lansbury, Jerry Orbach and Chita Rivera, the two-hour program features a compilation of performances from Tony Awards broadcasts from 1967 to 1986. Many of these performances have not been seen since their original broadcasts and are presented with color corrected footage and digitally re-mastered music. The programs sampled are those produced by late Broadway showman Alexander H. Cohen and his wife Hildy Parks, who were routinely applauded for the quality of the broadcasts they created.
"Broadway's Lost Treasures" is divided into four segments: Broadway Divas, Leading Men, Dancin' and Record Breakers. The list of performers and tunes follows:
