News   Broadway’s Matilda Will Get New Miss Trunchbull
Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber will depart the long-running Broadway musical June 5.

Tony-nominated actor Christopher Sieber, who took over the role of sadistic school headmistress Miss Trunchbull in the Broadway company of Matilda in April 2014, will take his final bow in the Tony-winning musical June 5 at the Shubert Theatre.

Succeeding him will be Bryce Ryness (Hair, First Date), who has been starring as Trunchbull in the national tour of the musical. He begins performances June 7.

The Tim Minchin tuner based on Roald Dahl’s novelette will play its final Broadway performance January 1, 2017. It opened April 11, 2013, and will have played 37 previews and 1,555 regular performances at the Shubert Theatre.
