Variety reports that Dallas Roberts, who recently appeared in the Signature Theatre’s production of Burn This, will star opposite Robin Wright Penn and Colin Farrell in the new film based on Cunnigham’s novel. Cunningham also penned the Pulitzer Prize-winning “The Hours,” which was adapted for the screen by David Hare. “The Hours” is currently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Film. Roberts and Farrell will play best friends in the motion picture, which begins shooting in Toronto April 7. Both fall in love with Robin Wright Penn’s character, a woman they meet in New York City.

Michael Mayer received Tony nominations for Best Director for his work on A View From the Bridge; You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; and the Tony-winning Best Musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. His other Broadway credits include An Almost Holy Picture, Uncle Vanya, The Lion in Winter, Side Man and Triumph of Love. Off-Broadway, Mayer has directed The Credeaux Canvas, Stupid Kids, Baby Anger, Antigone in New York and View of the Dome.

Dallas Roberts portrayed Larry in the recent Signature Theatre production of Burn This, which co-starred Catherine Keener and Edward Norton. He was also seen in True Love and Nocturne, earning an Elliot Norton Award and a Drama Desk nomination for his work in the latter. His other theatrical credits include Enter the Night, Compleat Female Stage Beauty, Finer Noble Gases, The Taming of the Shrew, Tatjana in Color and Love’s Labour’s Lost. On screen, Roberts has appeared in “The Hat,” “Law & Order” and “NY Undercover.”
