Michael Winther, most recently on Broadway in the Tony-nominated revival of The Crucible, will perform in concert on July 1 at the Ars Nova Theater.

Part of the Broadway Spotlight Series, which recently presented Aida's Felicia Finley and former Renter Anthony Rapp, Winther will offer an evening of original songs from up-n-coming composers and lyricists at 8 PM. Kimberly Grigsby will serve as musical director and piano accompanist.

Gordon Greenberg, artistic director of the Spotlight Series, explains, "This is an incredible opportunity to see some of Broadway's most exciting young talent as individual performers in an up-close and personal environment.  For about the cost of a movie, audiences get a completely original evening with a major talent.  We are committed to offering this sort of an intimate platform to performers, composers and lyricists who wish to explore new material in a comfortable setting."

Winther has appeared on the New York stage in Hapgood, Artist Descending a Staircase, Damn Yankees, 1776, Berlin to Broadway With Kurt Weill and Forever Plaid. His screen credits include "The Tag" and "Joe's Apartment," and he supplied the voices for the animated series "Rocket Power" and "The Wild Thornberrys." About his singing, The New York Times recently enthused, "[Winther is] endowed with a strong, appealing folk pop voice. Michael displays the range, ballast and discipline of a trained theatre singer."

The Ars Nova Theater is located at 511 W. 54th Street in New York City. Tickets are priced at $12 and are available for cash only at the door. For reservations and information, call (212) 977-1700.   —By Andrew Gans
