News   Broadway's Raisin in the Sun May Have Life Elsewhere

The hit limited run of A Raisin in the Sun on Broadway may have a future life elsewhere in the United States.

"The show has to end as scheduled," said Audra McDonald, who won a Tony Award June 6 as Best Supporting Actress in a Play for her portrayal of a Ruth Younger in the production. "We all have other commitments we must go on to, so it can't continue. It may, however, have a life in a different part of the country, possibly Los Angeles."

Raisin's Phylicia Rashad also won a Tony for her work.

The production stars Sean Combs and Sanaa Lathan. On the strength of rap mogul Combs' casting it has turned into a commercial hit in the 2004 Broadway spring season. It is due to end it run July 11.
