The production will reopen at the Helen Hayes Theatre, currently the home of the limited engagement of Colin Quinn: Long Story Short, in March.

Producers previously said that running costs at the Hayes would be significantly less than at the Atkinson.

Matthew Weaver, one of the lead producers of Rock of Ages, had told the New York Times, "On a macro level, we think this move allows us to run on Broadway for another two years, if not longer, and should allow us to stay open in time for the Rock of Ages movie to open in 2012. It will be a big help to the movie if the musical is still running on Broadway, and vice versa."

(Rain—A Tribute To the Beatles on Broadway will play its final performance at the Neil Simon Theatre Jan. 15 before reopening at the Atkinson Feb. 8.)

The musical comedy Rock of Ages borrows rock hits of the 1980s to tell the story of showbiz lovers in L.A. The score includes "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," "I Wanna Know What Love Is," "Here I Go Again," "Don't Stop Believin'" and more.

Rock of Ages is written by Chris D'Arienzo, directed by Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by Kelly Devine.

The cast currently features Dee Snider, Joey Taranto, Emily Padgett, Josephine Rose Roberts, Adam Dannheisser, Mitchell Jarvis, Michele Mais, Paul Schoeffler, Derek St. Pierre, Jenifer Foote, Ericka Hunter, Jay Klaitz, Michael Minarik, Julie Nelson, Justin Matthew Sargent, Matthew Stocke, Sarrah Strimel, Becca Tobin, Andre Ward, Katie Webber and Jeremy Woodard.
