News Broadway's Sunday in the Park with George Gets Second Extension — to June 15 Roundabout Theatre Company has announced a second two-week extension of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's modernist musical, Sunday in the Park with George, now to June 15 at Studio 54 on Broadway.

The Sam Buntrock-directed production earned praise in London at the Menier Chocolate Factory and later on the West End, and was again embraced in this new Broadway production of the London version. Projections — animated drawings and filmic images — bring the art-world tale to life like never before.

The Roundabout production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical about artists' vision and ambition features Daniel Evans (George), Jenna Russell (Dot & Marie), Michael Cumpsty (Jules & Bob), Alexander Gemignani (Boatman & Dennis) and Jessica Molaskey (Yvonne & Naomi), with Mary Beth Peil (Old Lady & Blair), Ed Dixon (Mr. & Charles), Santino Fontana (Soldier & Alex), Kelsey Fowler (Louise), Jessica Grové (Celeste #2 & Silent Artist), Alison Horowitz (Louise), Stacie Morgain Lewis (Frieda & Betty), Drew McVety (Louis & Billy), Anne L. Nathan (Nurse, Mrs. & Harriet), Brynn O'Malley (Celeste #1), David Turner (Franz & Lee). Chistopher Gattelli handled musical staging.

Sunday in the Park with George began previews on Jan. 25, and opened officially on Feb. 21 at Studio 54 at 254 W. 54th Street. The first announced extension bumped the show to June 1. Now, tickets are on sale to June 15.

According to Roundabout, "The Georges Seurat painting, 'A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte,' is the inspiration for this compelling musical fantasy which celebrates the art of creation and the creation of art. The first half of Sunday in the Park with George, set in 1884, sees the painting and its rich comic tapestry come to life in a world where, for Georges, art comes before love, before everything. In the second half, set in 1980s New York, we see the great grandson of Georges and his search for inspiration amongst the unfolding world of contemporary art."

Sunday in the Park with George plays Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8 PM with a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday matinee at 2 PM. Tickets are available by calling Roundabout Ticket Services at (212) 719-1300, online at www.roundabouttheatre.org or at the Studio 54 box office (254 West 54th Street). Ticket prices range from $36.25-$121.25.
