The Play That Goes Wrong, which will conclude its Broadway run January 6, 2019, at the Lyceum Theatre, has recouped its $4 million investment.

Producer Kevin McCollum stated, “The English use the word ‘brilliant’ to describe everything from an egg salad sandwich to the cure for polio. However, The Play That Goes Wrong is brilliant and I could not be happier to announce that the show is officially a hit.”

After a successful London run, The Play That Goes Wrong, created by the Mischief Theatre, began performances on Broadway March 9, 2017, and officially opened April 2. Upon closing, the production will have played 27 previews and 745 performances.

Co-written by Mischief Theatre company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, The Play That Goes Wrong introduces The Cornley University Drama Society, which is attempting to put on a 1920s murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong does as the accident-prone thespians battle on against all odds to get to their final curtain call.
