Anna Jones, assistant director for last season's Jack Goes Boating, directs Coleman's tale about "Vera Barry, a conventional Aussie housewife, a woman of great complexity," according to press notes. "Despite recent heartbreaks, she was keen to present a kind of 'She'll be right' attitude. A vivaciousness in the face of hardship. Over a cup of tea one morning, she tells us her story. A story of love, loss and betrayal, laced with a very Australian kind of determined brightness: even as she choked on her words, she'd get this wild gleam in her eye and say, 'Well, what can you do? You must keep on, mustn't you?'" An Australian native, Coleman received her MFA from the Actors Studio Drama School. Her credits include Barbara in the Academy Award-winning film "Capote," as well as June in LAByrinth Theater Company's Pretty Chin Up at the Public Theater. Coleman originated the roles of Hilary in But I'm a Cheerleader and the title role in Alice, both at the BMI Musical Theater Workshop.
