22Q Entertainment LLC in partnership with the Green-Wood Historic Fund transports visitors from the national historic landmark to the fictional town of Spoon River under the light of the moon. Audience members will travel on Green-Wood's trolley, with only the light of torches and lanterns, into the heart of the cemetery, where the production will be performed through June 26.
Adapted for the stage by Tom Andolora, The Spoon River Project, according to press notes, "introduces the audience to the Midwest town of Spoon River as the residents, in their deaths, divulge their secrets, their private thoughts, their regrets and the turmoil that filled their lives. Period costumes and songs including 'Shall We Gather at the River,' 'Softly and Tenderly' and 'In The Gloaming,' set an atmospheric stage."
Members of the cast, under the direction of Andolora with musical staging by Jeffry Denman, include Tabatha S. Skanes, Diamando Stratakos, Susan Cohen DeStefano, Carolyn McCandlish, Halina Newberry Grant, Tom Mahon, Ed Newman, Carl DeForrest Hendin, Andre Softeland, Mark Lanham and David Michael Kirby.
The production also features musicians Angelica Olstad, Pearl Rhein and Emma Carleton.
Members of the creative team include lighting designer Scott Orlesky, sound designer Michael Eisenberg and wig designer Emilia Martin. Midnight shows include a tour of the Green-Wood Catacombs. Visitors must arrive by 11 PM. Due to the mature content of the show, audience members must be at least 15 years old to attend.
