Due to renovations in their longtime home of Prospect Park, Brooklyn's Kings Country Shakespeare Company has temporarily moved into The Founders Hall Theatre of St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights to present their twelfth year of annual summer Shakespeare. KCSC will present Shakespeare's As You Like It for the season, celebrating the play's 400th anniversary. For those unfamiliar with the plot, As You Like It follows the banishment of Duke Senior, Orlando, Rosalind, Celia Oliver and Touchstone to the Forest of Arden. The first half of the play tells of attempted murders, cracked ribs, disowned brothers with the second half of the play focusing on the romantic angles of the characters. The play will be presented Aug. 19-Sept. 5.
The production will be helmed by Ray Virta, who appeared in the title role of KCSC's Macbeth and Love's Labour's Lost. Virta also understudied Frank Langella for The Roundabout Cyrano and replaced David Straithairn in MTC's Eyes for Consuela.
Founders Hall Theatre is located at 182 Remsen Street in Brooklyn Heights. For information, call (718) 434-4756.
