News Broward Center's Inaugural Pride Series Will Feature Leslie Jordan, Varla Jean Merman The Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale has announced its lineup for its first-ever Pride Series, which begins Oct. 12 at the Broward Center.

Jon and Juan's Wedding  will kick off the 2011-12 series with performances running Oct. 12-23. According to press notes, "Jon Silverman and Juan Rodriguez are getting married—and both families want to do it their way! Join the dysfunctional, always fun, Jewish and Cuban families as they celebrate this fabulous, zany gay wedding with characters galore! From a distraught ex-boyfriend to a spaced out best man and a loud, opinionated Cuban father, these oversized personalities and cultures collide in a flamboyant, outrageous music, food, and dance filled extravaganza."

Following Jon and Juan's Wedding, the beauty-shop drag quartet, The Kinsey Sicks, will perform Dec. 3 at 6 and 9 PM. Kinsey Sicks: Oy Vey in a Manager combines "a cappella singing, over-the-top drag and plenty of Jewish angst. The Kinsey Sicks turn their considerable talents to the global effort to stamp out holiday cheer [and] put their own spin on holiday favorites such as 'Harried Little Christmas,' 'Jews Better Watch Out,' 'Macaroona,' 'God Bless Ye Femmy Lesbians,' 'A Lay in a Manger,' 'Papirossen,' and the new Christmas cuisine standard, 'Soylent Night.'"

Leslie Jordan and Varla Jean Merman, who recently starred in Off-Broadway's Lucky Guy, will conclude the series April 7 at the Parker Playhouse with "an evening of comic disproportions." The one-night-only performance begins at 8 PM.

In addition, La Cage aux Folles, presented in partnership by Broadway Across America and the Florida Theatrical Association, will run June 12-24 at the Broward Center and is offered in a pre-sale special for subscribers to the Pride Series.
