News Bruce Lumpkin Tapped As Artistic Director of Theatre Under the Stars Barrymore Award winner Bruce Lumpkin has been named the artistic director of the Theatre Under the Stars, the Houston, TX, regional theatre announced July 5.

Lumpkin served as associate director with Tommy Tune on the Broadway production of Grand Hotel and co-directed the London staging of that Tony Award-winning musical. Lumpkin is a Houston native and first began directing at TUTS' Humphreys School of Musical Theatre.

"I am very excited to come home to be a part of the theatre where my career began," Lumpkin said in a statement. He most recently staged the TUTS productions of White Christmas and Miss Saigon.

TUTS recently concluded its engagement of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Upcoming productions include Yankee Doodle Dandy, Legally Blonde and the pre-Broadway tour of Jekyll & Hyde.
