Classic Arts News   BSO Chamber Players Announces New Season

The Boston Symphony Chamber Players kicks of its 44th season on October 21 at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. Pianists Leif Ove Andsnes, Lars Vogt, and mezzo Paula Murrihy are scheduled to appear with the ensemble comprising the BSO's principal musicians.

The players along with Vogt open the season on Sunday with Brahms's Serenade No. 1 (arranged by Boustead) and Dvoršk's Piano Quintet No. 2. The pianist also performs this weekend with the BSO in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3.

In January, Andsnes and Murrihy join the group in Schumann's Piano Trio No. 2 and Falla's El Corregidor y la molinera.

Highlights of the remaining concerts in February and May include performances of Bolcom's Serenata notturna, Foss's For Aaron, Golijov's Dream of the King and the Butterfly, Gandolfi's Plain, Hindemith's Morgenmusik and Takemitsu's Rain Spell.

The BSO Chamber Players also appears regularly at Tanglewood and released last December an all-Mozart album on the BSO Classics label, its first new recording in nearly a decade.
