LaBute will direct the event, also starring Kieran Culkin, Peter Dinklage and Christopher Meloni, set to play at the Little Shubert Theater. Autobahn features five one-acts by LaBute — Bench Seat, Long Division, Road Trip, Autobahn and Merge — all set within the confines of a car. Proceeds from LaBute's Autobahn will be used to support the company's literary and educational outreach programs.
Tickets are priced at $125 and can be purchased by calling (212) 727-7765.
Playwright LaBute is known for his gritty dramas, which include The Mercy Seat, The Shape of Things and bash: latter-day plays. His film works include "In the Company of Men," "Your Friends and Neighbors" and "Nurse Betty."
MCC, which teamed with LaBute to present The Mercy Seat, will present the American premiere of his work, The Distance From Here, beginning April 14 at The Duke on 42nd St. Set in a "suburban wasteland, USA," The Distance From Here centers on a teen-aged slacker and the discord in his family life. His mother doesn't remember his childhood and a stepsister—who is sleeping with his mother's boyfriend—wants to become involved sexually with him. The tangled story of betrayal and angst premiered at the Almeida Theatre in London.
