A host of 20th-century cult films will be presented this summer at Piers 54 and 25 in New York City, with several of these evenings also boasting interviews with Broadway celebrities.
One of the highlights of the July 3-Aug. 30 "River Flicks" series is a screening of the horror film "Carrie" preceded by an interview with Tony-winner Betty Buckley, who starred in both the film and the short-lived Broadway musical version of the Stephen King story. Writer-comedian-actor Seth Rudetsky will conduct the interview as part of his heralded "Seth's Broadway Chatterbox" series.
Rudetsky will offer five "Chatterbox" evenings, coinciding with the screenings of "Revenge of the Nerds" on July 10, "The Silence of the Lambs" on July 17, "Grease" on July 26, "Saturday Night Fever" on July 31 and the aforementioned "Carrie" on Aug. 14; these presentations will include interviews with, respectively, Priscilla Lopez, Julie Halston, Saturday Night Fever Broadway cast members, Grease! Broadway company members and Buckley.
The "Chatterbox" interviews are scheduled to begin at 6 PM, and movies will be shown at nightfall, generally between 8 and 8:30 PM. Pier 54 will screen R rated movies, and Pier 25 will offer G and PG-rated films. The complete movie schedule follows:
