Helmed by Bedlam artistic director Tucker, New York Animals is set to begin previews at the New Ohio Theatre Nov. 14 and will play through Dec. 20. An official opening night is slated for Nov. 29.

The play tell the story of 21 New Yorkers as their lives intersect during a rain day in Manhattan, from an East Village diner to a Park Avenue penthouse.

The production has set design by John McDermott, costume design by Nikki Delhomme, lighting design by Les Dickert, vocal design by AnnMarie Milazzo and musical direction by Barsha.

L.A.'s Rougue Machine staged the last workshop production of New York Animals in 2010. In the lead-up to that staging, Sater told Playbill.com, "It's a play in which four actors play 21 characters whose lives collide over the course of a dark rainy New York day [and explores] the desperate dark comic edge of New York. It's about people trying to get somewhere and never getting anywhere, but getting somewhere nonetheless. You begin in an Upper West Side apartment with a woman (who is having fears about confronting her housekeeper) and her own baby who has jaundice. And you end at 3:30 in the morning in an emergency room with that same woman who is touched by a homeless guy who's in the emergency room with her and helping her save this child." New York Animals will kick off Bedlam's new season, to be followed by a return engagement of its sold-out production of Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility. Adapted for the stage by Kate Hamill, the work will begin previews Jan. 24, 2016, at the Gym at Judson for a six-week run. Visit TheatreBedlam for more information.
