News   Burton to Head Cast of Lane's Caterer at Whitefire Theatre
LeVar Burton — of "Roots" and "Star Trek" fame — will star in the premiere of Brian Alan Lane's The Caterer, which begins performances in Sherman Oaks April 10.

Described as "the story of a man who sells you your appropriate death," the production will play through May 10 at the Whitefire Theatre. Playwright Lane directs.

Burton will portray Oliver Mestman in a cast that also features "Lost" regular Cynthia Watros (Ingrid), James Hiroyuki Liao (Stan Guest), Burnadean Jones (Florence), Angelle Brooks (Sadie), Rachel Kanouse (Emma) and Alejandrea Jordan (Pen).

LeVar Burton earned an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Kunta Kinte in the 1977 award-winning television miniseries "Roots." He also served as the host and producer of the Emmy-winning children's program "Reading Rainbow." He is also well known for portraying Geordi La Forge on "Star Trek: The Next Generation."
