News Bush Is Bad, an Evening of Musical Satire for Sore Losers, Plays York Theatre April 18 Bush Is Bad, an evening of musical satire blasting the Bush administration, plays April 18 at The York Theatre Company.

Subtitled A Political Cabaret for Sore Losers, it's a 75-minute long "revue/cabaret/full frontal musical attack" that illustrates composer-lyricist-creator Joshua Rosenblum's philosophy, "Don't get mad; write songs."

"Gleeful musical potshots" will be directed at George W. Bush, John Ashcroft, Ann Coulter, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice and Karl Rove, among others. The partisan show aims to be a cross between Forbidden Broadway and "The Daily Show."

Performers include Kate Baldwin (Wonderful Town ), Michael Winther (Mamma Mia! ) and Michael McCoy (Off-Broadway's Junie B. Jones), directed by Gary Slavin. Rosenblum will play piano.

There is no admission fee, but reservations are recommended.

The performance is at 7:30 PM April 18. Rosenblum co-wrote the musical Fermat's Last Tango, seen at the York, and had developed the musical Einstein's Dreams over the past several years. Rosenblum moonlights as a conductor, having led the orchestras for 11 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. On the classical end, Rosenblum has served as guest conductor for the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and the American Repertory Ballet.

Bush Is Bad is part of The York Theatre Company's Developmental Reading Series. Reservations are recommended at (212) 935-5824.

York's home is The Theatre at St. Peter's in the Citigroup Center at 54th and Lexington (enter off 54th Street).

James Morgan is York's artistic director; Jeff Landesman coordinates the reading series there.
