The Weir, Conor McPherson's evening of ghost story-telling in a remote Irish pub, will hold an Actors' Fund benefit performance May 24 at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Tickets are available at regular box office prices ($60-$25) by calling 1-800-FUND TIX ext. 121/133, through Ticketmaster/Tele-Charge and at the theatre's box office. The nation's "only human service organization for all entertainment professionals," the Actors' Fund of America is best known for providing financial assistance and social services (food, rent, medical expenses) to professionals in need. Given on a night when the show doesn't normally play, an Actors' Fund performance, with all benefits going to the Fund, charges the same box office prices as on other nights and is often well attended by members of the entertainment community.

The 1999 Laurence Olivier Award winner for Best Play, The Weir stars the original Dublin and London cast: Kieran Ahern as Jimmy, Brendan Coyle as the barman, Dermot Crowley as Finbar, Michele Fairley as Valerie, and Jim Norton as Jack.
