News Bye, Bye Big Guy — Starring Hairspray's Jibson — Begins Fringe Run Aug. 20 Bye, Bye Big Guy, the fairy-tale tinged musical starring Hairspray's Carly Jibson, makes its premiere at the New York International Fringe Festival Aug. 20.

Jibson is joined by Danielle Lee Greaves (Hairspray, Rent), Jill Abramovitz (Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me), Orville Mendoza (Pacific Overtures, Adrift in Macao) and Michael Gerrard for the Fringe production.

Press notes describe the musical as "an irreverent, musical satire . . . a memorial to the late, great, gold-spinner, Rumplestiltskin. Snow White, Dr. Jack Sprat, Goldilocks and a multitude of dwarfs are just a few of the guests who gather to pay their last respects and find out if they might win the Stiltskin fortune." The producers note this is not a musical for children.

Bye, Bye Big Guy features music by David Evans (Birds of Paradise, A...My Name is Alice), lyrics by Faye Greenberg (High School Musical) and a book by Michael Slade (Thanksgiving at MCC).

The creative team includes musical direction by Torquil Munro, set designs by David Newell and costuming by Karen Ann Ledger.

Bye, Bye Big Guy plays the Lucille Lortel Theatre through Aug. 25. Tickets are $15 and are available by calling (212) 279-4488 or by visiting www.fringenyc.org The Lucille Lortel Theatre is located at 121 Christopher St. (between Bleecker St. and Hudson St.) in New York.
