A mix of culinary and theatre arts, the evening is divided into two acts. The first act, dubbed "First Course," features dishes selected and prepared by top Manhattan chefs with classic wines and specialty cocktails.
The second act, titled "Main Dish," features food-inspired entertainment and performances — songs, skits, readings and onstage cooking — by a mix of entertainers. Among those scheduled to perform are Michael Cerveris, Sarita Choudhury, Peter Dinklage, Ana Gasteyer, Buck Henry, Anthony Mackie, Karen Ziemba and writers Colman Andrews and Calvin Trillin.
The evening will also include silent and live auctions (Food Network host Tyler Florence will be one of the auctioneers). Among the prizes are Broadway show tickets, travel packages and culinary treats.
The Play Company, launched in 1999, recently presented Vijay Tendulkar's Sakharam Binder. The not-for-profit theatre develops and produces new plays by writers from around the world — including the United States — linking American theatre with world theatre.
