Veteran Broadway actress and singer Susan Egan, a native of Southern California, ventures west Jan. 31 in preparation for a number of mid February performances in Los Angeles and Orange County. Egan will later return to Cabaret and perform in that show through July 2000.
During the break from her role as Sally Bowles in the Roundabout Theatre Company revival of Cabaret, Egan will perform Broadway tunes, songs from film classics and original material from a new generation of Broadway composers.
Egan is traveling Jan. 31 and will perform in California between Feb. 11 - 20. She will sing at the Pepperdine University Center for the Arts in Malibu (Feb. 11), the Citrus College Haugh Performing Arts Center in Glendora (Feb. 12) and at the Orange County Performing Arts Center Founders Hall (Feb. 17 - 20).
Her Broadway credits include receiving Tony and Drama Desk nominations for originating the role of Belle in Beauty and the Beast, and performing as the voice of Mel in Disney's animated film, "Hercules." She starred opposite Carol Burnett in Stephen Sondheim's Putting It Together at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. Also on Broadway, Egan starred in Rodgers and Hammerstein's State Fair and in Triumph of Love with Betty Buckley and F. Murray Abraham.
