Writer-performers Regie Cabico and Aileen Cho take on Asian-American stereotypes in their two person show, The Gene Pool, running Nov. 5-6, 12-13 and 19-20 at Dixon Place's Vineyard 26.

By "deconstructing dragon ladies, rice queens, Asian-philes and personal ads," Gene Pool weaves the model minority myth, M. Butterfly, and the picture bride into a comic examination of pop culture. Cabico is a "poetry slam" champion who has appeared on MTV and traveled with Lollapalooza. Cho is a member of the Asian-American troupe Peeling the Banana, SLAAAP and the poetry collective at House of Xavier.

Tickets are $12 and available by calling (212) 532-1546. Dixon Place at Vineyard 26 is located at 309 E. 26th Street.

NYC's Dixon Place, the downtown solo performance haven where John Leguizamo, The Blue Man Group, Lisa Kron and Peggy Shaw all started their careers, recently moved from their Bowery second floor loft into the Vineyard Theatre's old space on East 26th Street (now called Dixon Place at Vineyard 26). The Vineyard still owns the space and had been using the building for smaller productions, workshops and as a rehearsal space.
