News California Shakespeare Will Premiere Dehnert's The Verona Project, Tackle Titus Andronicus in 2011 The California Shakespeare Theater has announced its 2011 season.

The acclaimed Orinda, CA, venue will mount The Verona Project, a new play inspired by Shakespeare's Two Gentlemen of Verona, as well as its first-ever production of Titus Andronicus and revivals of Candida and The Taming of the Shrew.

Titus Andronicus, directed by Joel Sass and starring James Carpenter, an associate artist of the theatre, in the title role, will run June 1-26, 2011.

The Verona Project will have its premiere run July 6-31, 2011. Amanda Dehnert will direct her own adaptation of Two Gentlemen, which will include original music that she will compose and the cast will perform.

The company will then tackle two very different visions of marriage, starting with George Bernard Shaw's Candida, to be directed by Jonathan Moscone (Aug. 10-Sept. 4, 2011). Shana Cooper will then direct Shakespeare's boisterous battle-of-the-sexes comedy, The Taming of the Shrew, Sept. 12-Oct. 16, 2011.
