Burkell (lyrics) and Loesel (music) have written a musical revue, Love Songs and Other Crap (MAC Award nomination), and two full-length musicals, Ella Minnow Pea and The Extraordinary Ordinary. The latter is currently being developed by Dreamlight Theatre Company, which is presenting the 7 PM March 1 Works in Progress concert at the Triad, 158 W. 72nd St., Second Floor, between Broadway & Columbus. In addition to Callaway (Miss Saigon, Baby, The Look of Love), the concert features Doug Kreeger (Les Miserables, Rooms: A Rock Romance), Liz McCartney (South Pacific, Mamma Mia!, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Phantom of the Opera) and Jennifer DiNoia (Wicked).
Loesel will be on piano, with Allison Seidner on cello and Andy Jones on percussion.
Burkell and Loesel's songs have been performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Joe's Pub, Symphony Space, The Kennedy Center and the Chicago Humanities Festival. Recordings of their work appear on Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley's album, "Opposite You," and Stephanie J. Block's "This Place I Know."
The concert is part of Dreamlight Theatre Company's 2010 Bright Lights concert series.
