News Camille Opens in West End March 11 Neil Bartlett's production of Camille opens at the Lyric, Hammersmith March 11.

Bartlett has adapted Alexander Dumas' story for the stage — just as Verdi did, in his opera La Traviata. Daniella Nardini (from BBC's “This Life”) stars as Marguerite Gaultier, a courtesan who falls in love with a handsome young man of a good family — with disastrous consequences.

A story of love across the nineteenth-century class divide, with the added poignancy of an early death, this is a European story that has been turned into plays and films as well as opera.
