Anton Chekhov's final play, The Cherry Orchard, will grace the stage of Off-Broadway's Pearl Theatre Company beginning on Jan. 11, 2001. Joseph Hardy will direct the drama, which will officially open on Jan. 22 and run through Feb. 25. Pearl regular Joanna Camp will play the central role of Ranevskaya, the flighty, spendthrift matriarch of a Russian estate who returns from a sojourn in Paris in a futile attempt to put her affairs right and save her land and orchard from developers. Lopachin, the merchant class upstart and friend of the family who eventually purchases the orchard, is played by Dan Daily. Also in the cast are Rachel Botchan, Edward Seamon, Dominic Cuskern and Christopher Moore.
