SEATTLE -- Alexandre Dumas might not even recognize the campy The Three Musketeers!-- The Musical! opening Apr. 10 as part of the Empty Space's outerSpace late night series.
The Space's artistic director Eddie Levi Lee who has given Seattle audiences rousingly entertaining loose musical adaptations of both Hamlet and Wuthering Heights, directs. with composer Sam Vance suppplying the tunes, with writing and performing contributions by the participant's in this year's Empty Space internship program. TTM-TM features outrageous feats of swordsmanship, an amazing duel in which the weapons are a loaf of bread and a bottle of champagne, and a raffle, in what cast member Erin McVickers calls "a liberal adaptation ...OK it's nothing at all like the book."
Other cast members include Keith Anderson, Andrea Benson, Nicole Godino, Adam Greenfield, Karen Lund, and Ariadne Shaffer, who cautions "Be sure to leave your intellect at home."
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 11 PM Apr. 10 through May 9 at The Empty Space, 3509 Fremont Ave N, Seattle. Admission (at the door) is $6 cash at the door, $3 cash for non-subscribing playgoers who show ticket stubs from the same night's mainstage performance of Of Mice and Men, and free for current Empty Space subscribers.
